A Sunday exploration earlier this year led me to a series of green hills in the lush Spring landscape of western Marin County. Farms, dairies and vineyards were interspersed with natural grasslands and forested slopes. After stopping high atop Bay Hill for a view over the Pacific I dropped down to Bodega Bay Beach and the State Park, where crowds of people huddled around the parking lot, looking out over the ocean.
It didn’t take more than ten minutes to leave most of them behind; a short hike out to the highpoint of the bluff. There, all was quiet except for the wind and the birds and the silent rocks keeping watch.
