Mountains are not only in the countryside. San Francisco’s own Mount Davidson, the county highpoint, is only 937′ but is heavily wooded with blue gum eucalyptus forest and laced with trails. Following this shady path early in the morning it’s hard to believe you are in the middle of a major city. There’s an intricate network of small trails in the forest, leading up to and around a large cross on the summit. A few early morning joggers and dog walkers passed by, but the woods and fog quickly absorbed the sound, quieting the air.
