And another forest scene. I had parked at the base of Cow Mountain, at the north end of the BLM recreation area on the high ridge east of Ukiah. Only an hour to go before sunset and I was a mile and a half and 1250 feet below the summit. After a strenuous push up a steep, steep fire break I reached the ridge and found this delightful grove of trees, backlight by the setting sun. A few quick images and I was on my way to the summit, arriving just as the sun set.

It was nearly dark by the time I got back to car, after slowly and carefully picking my way back down the slope. Three summits, one more at night on the way out, and then the long drive home.
