This hillside surrounded by houses in San Ramon was less than generous in photo subjects. On a day when murky haze filled the surrounding valleys there were no grand vistas. Looking down I saw only a broad drab sweep of tangled brown grass and thistle. Nothing grabbed my eye.
But if looking down didn’t work, perhaps lying down and looking up… Isolating a few wispy stalks against the gray clouds gave a simple composition, rid of all the rest of the clutter, just grasses and sky.
